WHAT IS AN ACID WASH:<\/p>\n

Acid washed denim is often synonymous with the punk culture of the 1980s. Everything from basic jeans, to jackets and vests were acid washed, and the trend was as prevalent and loud as the hair. This look dates back further than the 80s however, and actually began in the 1960s, popular among surf culture.\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

The look is achieved with a bleaching agent, applied to garments. These are placed in industrial dryers with stones or blocks, which agitate the fabric as the machine rotates. The abrasion bleaches away dye on the garments to give them a weathered look. The process continually developed over the years and today, achieves the same look but with less fiber damage to the garments.<\/p>\n
